BG3: True Evil

The Setup

To start, I want to go over the modifications I’m playing with. It is a mod collection from NexusMods.com called “BG3 New Game Puss – ALL IN ONE!” compiled by user RisenPhoenix69 (nice).
If you don’t care to venture to the page and check it out, here are the features:

๐ŸŽ‰ Main features ๐ŸŽ‰
  • MORE AI health, stats and larger spell/ability lists
  • 22 New Races
  • 12 New Classes
  • 82 New Subclasses
  • Removed level cap (max level 20) with double XP
  • Overhauled UI
  • Temporary Storyline Buffs last Forever with less affect
  • True Initiative Rolls D20
  • Spells added from D&D 5e & PF 2e
  • Inspiration cap (4) removed
  • Vanilla gear reworked and Additional balanced items with level based acquisition
  • Shoving takes a full action
  • Enemies get random buffs based on the idea of champion monsters from the Diablo series
  • Grappling mechanic added (D&D5e allows any free hand to grapple an opponent, bring movement to 0 until broken)
  • Bonus action demoralize in combat. Allows you to attempt to make enemies afraid of you, granting the benefits of them having the fear condition

It’s a massive collection of mods, and I still use version 101 (as of this writing) because I use this collection to play a multiplayer game with a friend and the hassle of updating and syncing with your fellow players makes for a frustrating experience. I am appreciative to RisenPhoenix69 for putting this together, but every update can potentially break compatibility with others as the load order isn’t always provided and every single mod version must be matched. If your system arbitrarily puts together a new load order that doesn’t match your teammates’ load orders, you can no longer play together until that is sorted out. This caused HOURS of frustration for my friend and I before we found this root cause. As a result of the trouble, we no longer update this collection unless the game itself updates and requires many of the mods to be updated and the load order files synced so we can play together.

I would have been content with the race and class additions, but the other changes also add infinitely more variation to the gameplay experience. I highly recommend this mod collection and if you are playing exclusively solo, go ahead and keep everything updated so you get the latest additions and fixes.
